South Carolina

Quick note for the record. My preseason pick for the college football national championship is South Carolina vs. Oklahoma. Knowing full well that i might be a year early on South Carolina. I just feel they have some big time playmakers on both sides of the ball that will allow them to win those 50-50 games. While South Carolina has not been overly impressive in the first 3 games, I feel the playmakers have been making plays. I have watched about 95 percent of South Carolina's snaps, the main reservations I have is Garcia hasn't made the leap I was expecting. Infact he has looked down right awful at times.

I still think South Carolina can get through the regular season unscathed. Though LSU and Bama would have to favored at this point...though that is a long way away. Why I love college football.

ACC on field; 9/16

It wasn't just a big weekend in the ACC off the field. The ACC had a really good showing on the field, yeah FSU showed its still a year away, but put up a strong showing against a loaded Oklahoma team. Clemson ended the nations longest winning streak with an impressive win over Auburn. I watched every snap of the game and Clemson has some legit playmakers. I know they have been on "the rise" for a decade now, but... Moving on

Miami picked up a win that looks good now but I feel it will look worse and worse each week. Coaching is so much in college football and tressel will be missed, but no one knew OSU would be in a tailspin when the game was scheduled, good win for a reeling Miami program.

Overall feel of the ACC looks strong, FSU held its own against a big boy, Va Tech looks as sturdy as ever, Clemson, UNC are both 3-0, Georgia Tech is 3-0 with about million rushing yards.

Big weekend for the ACC; Expansion

Big exciting weekend for the ACC. First was the news of expansion broke and I was quite amazed at how quickly we went from Cuse and Pitt applying to join the ACC to the vote being taken place and accepted. As an ACC fan you cannot help but feel excited I was actually writing a blog about the move to 4 super conferences and who would win the battle between the ACC and the big east for the last super conference. the ACC fired the first shot getting Miami, BC, and VA Tech, now they have followed it up with a body blow. I feel a knockout shot of Uconn maybe next and coming sooner rather then later.

The feelng from ACC commish John Swafford is that the goal is to get to 16 teams with 2 eight team divisions. So who are the other teams? Dream scenario I think Texas and Notre Dame. Longshot for sure, but the only thing that surpasses football in this expansion deal it seems is money. Those two schools would be big dollar prizes. Realistically i think Uconn and you see whats left from the big 12.

I think when it comes down to it, the ACC has put itself in a position to survive if not thrive. Regardless of how you feel about predetory expansion, its here and the ACC which started the poaching is making sure its not. The outside looking in.

Broncos Raiders

Broncos fumble away and the raiders go 3 and out and kick a FG. Just sloppy sloppy. I would like to blame it on the rain, but it only started raining about 5 minutes ago.

More penalties for both teams... Trying to resist the temptation to watch pawn stars or start working on my college football top 10

Special teams

Raiders block a punt. All those heads who said special teams would suffer due to the lock out seem to be right. We'll see if the raiders can take advantage.

And...false start on 3rd and short....followed by another false start...lol

Somehow they convert on 3rd and 13 by running it up the middle with Mcfadden. Raiders get a touchdown. I feel like if Tom Brady is a surgeon then Jason Campbell is a butcher. The first 20 min wasn't as pretty as the first game, but its been entertaining.

Denver Oakland

Broncos end up with amazing field position, but can only manage a FG. Might come back and haunt them. Touchdowns win games i the NFL these days. On a positive note. I am digging difler as an announcer. I liked him as a talking head and he seems like he will be a good color man. Raiders go 3 and out.

Raiders Broncos

I don't buy into all of the Tebow hype. But to be honest im actually hoping to see him play a little. Of course as soon as I type this the raiders fumble on their first play of the game. Lol.
